About me:
I studied art at the beautiful medieval city Bamberg at the Otto-Friedrich-University.
And although I have always occupied myself with painting, collaging, writing and drawing, either for myself or as commisional work, it was always rather secondary. But after finally having both the literal and metaphorical space and having made some life-altering choices I felt the desire and need to pick up my brush and see what I am capable of and get it out there. I hope you enjoy my works!
About my works:
I love bright colors and I when different textures are coming together. And I love unusual motives. What I enjoy most, however, is contradiction in both themes and techniques.
Sometimes I start with high expectations and specific ideas what I want a picture to look like. More often than not, of course, I am not satisfied and change course within the painting by trying different techniques or just let the paint do its job and coincidence happen. I found that I can surprise myself by that and gain new inspiration as well as effects. It makes me rethink and look at things differently. After that it is about going with it as well as refocusing on a techniques and working purposefully and precisely again. It is an interaction between targeted, convergent action and loosening, refreshing divergence.
Whereas my motives are concerned, I love rabbits and ended up with them as my main theme at the end of my university time. In the beginning and also throughout that time, though, I had nudes as my main theme and now I am trying to combine and balance those two favourites in my "Ladies"- paintings. They are not actual nudes of course but I find they still have a suggestive air around them. And the format allows me to combine different styles and techniques within one work.
I also found that left over paint is never a waste unless you throw it out so I tend to take the opportunity, start a quick abstract painting with it, and then see what happens looking from different angles or ignore it for a while in order to refresh my glance. I find it fascinating how different forms and shapes and actual bodies can emerge from that depending on what you have sensitized yourself with. Then you often only have to release and enhance them.
